Tuition, stated plainly
Extended care from 7:30 to 5:00, daily French and Spanish, and every excursion are inside the fee rather than billed on top of it. Here is the whole picture.
2024–25 fee schedule
Not the current year — ask the officeThese are the 2024–25 figures — the most recent schedule we have in writing, published here so you can see the shape and the order of magnitude rather than guess at them. Fees are reviewed every 1 July, so the current year will differ. Please ask the office for this year’s schedule before you budget.
Paying up front saves $500. Both full-day programmes are $500 cheaper per year paid in full than paid across ten instalments. That is why the two columns below do not multiply out.

One-time registration fee
Charged once, to new families only, when a place has been assigned. Non-refundable.
Included in tuition
- Full Montessori programme with a complete set of classroom materials
- Daily French and Spanish taught by teachers who speak them
- Daily supervised outdoor time and local excursions on foot or by TTC
- Extended care from 7:30 am to 5:00 pm at no extra charge
- Termly observation days and a parent interview
- An annual tax receipt for services rendered
Billed separately
- Lunch and snacks — children bring their own from home
- School uniform, ordered directly from our supplier
- The summer programme, which is booked and billed separately
- Accident insurance, which families arrange themselves
The fine print, up front
How payment actually works
Two ways to pay
Either a single payment for the year, or ten monthly instalments from September to June. Monthly payers provide a voided cheque for pre-authorised withdrawal.
Starting mid-year
If your child starts partway through the year, fees are calculated from the start date to the following 30 June.
Ten-month commitment
Unless agreed otherwise in writing, enrolment is a ten-month commitment from September to June. Contracts renew automatically at the updated fees unless you tell us otherwise.
Fees are reviewed each July
Rates are updated on 1 July. Once your contract is signed, the rate you agreed is held for the whole of that school year — a July review never changes the fee partway through a year you have already started.
Refunds
Fees are not refunded for withdrawal, absence, family holidays, or closures outside the school’s control. The registration fee and the first two months are non-refundable.
Not a CWELCC school
Discovering Minds does not take part in the Canada-Wide Early Learning and Child Care programme, so fees are not reduced under that scheme.
Two things worth saying clearly
Where we sit on cost
Full-day Montessori in downtown Toronto generally runs somewhere between eighteen and thirty thousand dollars a year. We are at the lower end of that range, and the extended hours and languages that some schools charge for separately are inside our fee.
We also do not take part in the Canada-Wide Early Learning and Child Care programme, so our fees are not reduced under that scheme. If a CWELCC-subsidised place is what your family needs, we would rather tell you now than at the end of a tour.
Tax receipts
A receipt for services rendered is issued by the middle of February each year, or earlier if you ask. Child care fees are generally deductible in Canada — your accountant will know the current limits.
If circumstances change
Talk to the office early. Fees are not refunded for withdrawal, absence or family holidays, and the registration fee and first two months are non-refundable — but a conversation before a problem becomes a crisis is always worth having.
