Most Montessori schools in Toronto hand your child on at six. We carry them through to the end of Grade 4 — same building, same community, no starting over.
Casa means "home", and that is what the first classroom is meant to be: a place scaled to your child, where everything has a purpose and a place, and where a two-and-a-half-year-old can do real work with real materials.
Montessori kindergarten is not a waiting room for Grade 1. It is the culminating third year of a cycle, when everything a child has been quietly assembling since they were two suddenly comes together.
Between six and twelve a child’s mind changes character. Imagination and reason take over from absorption, and the questions get very big. Montessori elementary answers them with the whole universe, then works inward.
Most Toronto Montessori schools shut their doors at the end of June. We stay open through the summer, which matters a great deal if both parents work — and it lets a child settle in before September rather than after.
